Bean For Bean Coffee Industry Mentorship Program Back for 2023

United States-based nonprofit Go Fund Bean is reprising its Bean For Bean mentorship program for 2023, with applications closing Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The coffee-industry-focused organization launched a beta version of the program in 2021, expanded it in 2022, and now seeks both mentors and mentees for the 2023 iteration, which will run for six months beginning in April.

The goal of the volunteer-powered program is simply to facilitate mentorship relationships between people who are new to the industry and more seasoned coffee professionals.

“Mentoring is an important avenue for professional and personal growth and prior cohorts have had a lot to say about how positive the experience was for them and their careers,” the group said in an announcement of the 2023 program. “We accept professionals from all sectors of the coffee industry to help people grow together.”

According to Go Fund Bean, the time commitment for both mentors and mentees through the six-month period is approximately 45-90 minutes per week.

Just last week, Go Fund Bean published the results of its inaugural coffee industry wage survey, which highlighted a number of disparities in income levels and benefits among workers of different types, such as hourly and salaried. Importantly, Go Fund Bean said the survey data will be used “help workers early in their career see how others before them have moved forward.”
